Youth Recognition

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The Greater Toronto Council Youth Network (GTCYN) is always proud to recognize the hard work of the youth in Scouting. We want to recognize the amazing youth leaders across Toronto, and have created the Order of the Silver Key award for Distinguished Youth Service for this purpose. Alongside the Top Section Awards and the National Youth Network’s Medal of the Maple, we hope to encourage all youth as they explore their path.

Although every Scouting youth in Toronto is eligible, it is still up to you to make the nominations. We can’t recognize youth if we don’t receive recommendations to do so from the peers of those youth. We encourage all Volunteers and Youth members to take the time to recognize the youth of this Council.

Please remember that the THANKS button can be used to thank Youth members, who now receive the Certificate of Commendation.

The submission deadline is April 1, 2018 for inclusion in the 2017-2018 Youth Recognition Ceremony, which will be held on May 15, 2018.

Top Section Awards Process

As of December 2017, Scouts Canada has changed the process for the processing of Top Section Awards. Scouters are asked to open the deserving youth’s MyScouts profile, and add the Recognition directly to their records. Simply press ‘Add Recognition’ on the left hand menu, and select the appropriate Top Section Award. If you are having trouble adding a TSA to your youth’s profile, please contact Jen Austin (jenaustin@scouts.ca).
